Tips and Resources After a Storm

Helpful things to remember as you’re getting back on your feet:

• If you have evacuated, or your home or business has suffered damage, don’t return until officials say it is safe to do so.
• When you’re able to return, take pictures of the damage for insurance claims before you begin cleanup or repairs.
• Contact disaster relief agencies, such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the American Red Cross, for immediate assistance with food, temporary shelter and other needs. Find a list of helpful organizations and Regions resources on our Disaster Recovery Quick Contacts page.
• Take care to avoid downed power lines or suspected gas leaks and notify utility companies immediately of any potential dangerous conditions you find.
• If contractors offer to do work on your property (tree removal, roof repair, debris cleanup, etc.), do not pre-pay for services. Always ask to see a contractor’s license.
• Beware of scams: Fraudsters may see post-storm chaos as an opportunity. Remember that Regions will never contact you to ask for your confidential account or personal information on the phone or by email or text message.
